I don't have nearly enough photos of myself Irish dancing, so when I took some photos of me in my new solo dress, I decided to set the timer on the camera and get some nice shots of me doing a few leaps and jumps as well. Then I had even more fun stylizing the best shots in Photoshop. Click on the photos below to view the full gallery.
Video: The Wicked Witches Of The West ~ Irish Dance Costume Special
02.13.12
Me, Natalie Matson, Kiera Layne, Annie Jenson, and Amelia Walker performed as The Wicked Witched of the West in the Crossroads Feis Costume special last fall, just before Halloween. It was such a fun performance! I think the crowd really loved it. Click play to watch the video.
This is a video of me dancing my Treble Jig. I competed these steps at the Wasatch Winter Feis yesterday. The first and last steps were choreographed by Tina Shelley like 3 or 4 years ago, the second step is my own choreography. Enjoy!
Before & After Photos Of My Altered Irish Dance Dress
01.29.12
I finished altering my old Irish dance dress! I really love how it turned out. My goal was to create a dress that makes me look more like an adult than a kid. I wrote about my plan to alter this dress earlier this week. Click here to read the article.
I'm no seamstress, so I kept the basic design intact, but I added some accessories, chopped off the fluff, bought a more basic petticoat underskirt, and changed the way the cape is attached. I tried the whole thing on Saturday and took a few photos. I could hardly believe the difference. I look like an adult wearing this dress now! I've never been able to say that about an Irish dance costume. I also think it helped that I fixed my hair in a fancy side-bun with a large flower instead of wearing a wig.
Here are the before and after photos of my Irish dance dress:

I'm so excited that the alterations were a complete success! I can't wait to wear my 'new' dress next Saturday when I compete at the Wasatch Winter Feis.
